Things are getting pretty hot in the segment of heavy-duty trucks these days. The next year is about to bring completely new Ram and Silverado HD models and Ford doesn’t want just to sit and wait. It will introduce a new, significantly updated version of its famous Super Duty models. Among them, you can count on a new 2020 Ford F-350 as well. In Ford’s lineup, this is a mid-range model, which has been around since 2016. If offers some class-leading numbers when it comes to capability but the company wants to keep it fresh and make ready for new rivals. Therefore, we expect to see a major update in the next year. The testing model that is supposed to be a new 2020 Ford F-350 has been spotted and it promises a lot of novelties. Besides lots of visual updates, we count on a new powertrain as well.
2020 Ford F-350 Changes
The first thing that usually comes to mind when someone mentions update is a facelift. The 2020 Ford F-350 won’t be an exception, so count on a whole bunch of visual changes for this occasion. The testing model of the company’s Super Duty series has been spotted and it looks that the F-350 is under the camouflage. It is still completely covered, though we can see a new, very large “Ford” badge under the cover. Of course, there will be much more changes. We count on a completely new face, which will come with revisions on parts like the grille, front bumper, and even headlights. The rear end should also come with revisions. Latest reports suggest it will be pretty much identical to the new F-150 models.
Despite numerous changes, the overall shape will remain the same. Count of familiar dimensions, as well as on same cab designs and bed sizes in the offer. This means three cab designs (regular, extended and crew) and two-bed lengths – 6.8 and 8.2 foot.
2020 Ford F-350 Interior
On the inside, this update probably won’t bring more important changes. The overall cabin layout should remain the same, including the dashboard. Still, keep in mind that completely redesigned rivals are coming. These trucks are not just working machines anymore. New rivals will come with upscale cabins, so could see 2020 Ford F-350 with novelties in terms of materials choice and similar things. Of course, this would include more standard features as well.
The base trim level organization should remain the same. Each version will probably come with a couple of interesting novelties, but the with no core changes. Therefore, count on trims, common for all F Series models. This means six trim levels in total – XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and Limited. The XL and XLT are classic workhorses, with focus on capabilities, but still with a decent amount of standard equipment. The Lariat offers a great balance between price and amount of standard equipment. The King Ranch is famous for its unique styling approach, which involves a lot of western-inspired themes. With Platinum and Limited models, you can count not only on unique styling details but plenty of luxury as well.
2020 Ford F-350 Engines
There has been a lot of talk about this update and it is not just because of a facelift, but because of significant mechanical changes as well. It looks like we are about to see a new gasoline engine in the offer. The new unit has been in development for some time. Despite the fact that many reports claim its arrival in the next year, we still know exact specs. Still, we are pretty sure it will be much more efficient than the current 6.2-liter V8, which is good for about 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. A new engine will probably feature 7.0 liters in displacement and max output of around 450 hp. There is no doubt that such ratings will provide better-towing capacity, which currently goes around 17.000 pounds with a 6.2-liter V8.
On the other side, a mighty diesel engine will probably remain unchanged. It is a familiar 6.7-liter turbodiesel V8, which is good for about 450 hp and 930 lb-ft of torque. Such numbers guarantee class-leading capabilities. With this engine, the F-350 can tow up to 21.000 pounds. Also, count on spectacular payload capacity of 7.360 pounds.
Another significant change for the next year will be a new transmission. Latest reports suggest that the current 6-speed automatic will be replaced with a new 10-speed automatic transmission.
2020 Ford F-350 Release Date and Price
Considering the update, we expect to see 2020 Ford F-350 earlier than usual. Most likely, that will be the third quarter of next year. Also, a new engine could raise the base price for a bit. The current model starts at around 35.000 dollars.
