A heavy-duty segment of a pickup truck is being more and more popular each year. We can notice the rise of sold units in each company in this market. Every serious US truckmaker will add HD option to its base half-ton truck. After the new Ram 1500 is ready for next season, we can now expect to see updates for 2019 Ram 3500.
With Cummins drivetrain under the hood, there are no worries that 2019 Ram 3500 could fail. Small update is ready for this truck, and changes are mostly cosmetic. Well, very few touches on the drive system will boost overall performance. True redesign we could see for 2020 year model, when the interest for Ram 1500 starts to slow down. It will make a room for heavy-duty segment, including the new 2019 Ram 2500.
2019 Ram 3500 diesel specs
Reliable and durable with excellent performance and towing capacity. Briefly, that is Cummins diesel engine that powers 2019 Ram 3500. Whatsoever, the HD trucks also have two petrol units, and one of them is available for bigger pickup. But, these are no match for the 910 lb-ft-rated mule that can tow over 20,000 pounds. With proper equipment, the towing capacity reaches 23,000 lbs. Cummins engine is a 6.7-liter turbodiesel inline-six unit. Depending on tuning, it can make 350-385 hp. Also, buyers can opt for lighter version that creates ‘only’ 660 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission is default option. Truckers can choose a manual gearbox as well.
2019 Ram 3500 petrol units
Since a 5.7-liter engine is coming for Ram 2500, the only gasoline unit for 2019 Ram 3500 will be a 6.4-liter V-8. It is good for 410 horses and 430 lb-ft of torque. In Mega Cab configuration, the drivetrain returns 40 horses less. Compared to the diesel powertrain, the petrol version mates only automatic transmission. The company is not offering a manual one.
2019 Ram 3500 Mega Cab, other configurations and trim levels
The only trim level that doesn’t offer the Mega cab is entry-level Tradesman. All others, including the Limited edition will have this cabin with short box. On the other hand, this is one of two versions coming with a Regular cab and long bed setup. Besides it, the SLT has it in the offer for 2019 Ram 3500. Well, on this trim you can choose all available cab configurations and box sizes. Crew Cab with short and long box are available starting from SLT. Both Crew Cabs and Mega Cab are options for all other trims, including Big Horn, Laramie, Longhorn, and Limited.
2019 Ram 3500 redesign
During next season fans will see the redesign of the Ram heavy-duty trucks. Whatsoever, we doubt the models will debut for 2019 season. It is more likely to see them as 2020 pickups. Nevertheless, the 2019 Ram 3500 could get some features of the upcoming facelift. More aluminum in body panels is certain. Regarding the styling, all trim levels will probably carry the big Ram text instead of the badge. Other tweaks are on the way as well, especially inside the cabin. There, more features than ever expect us on entry-level Tradesman truck. For Limiter and Laramie Longhorn, the latest hi-tech equipment will find the way to infotainment system.
2019 Ram 3500 release date
Debut of the 2019 Ram 3500 and 2500 will come silently, compared to its half-ton sibling. Also, bigger show awaits the 2020 year model. So, updates on the next trucks we could see in second half of 2018. Sales will definitely start before 2019, and Ram will keep the current pricing. The offer starts from $35,000 and goes up. The most exclusive unit in the lineup is Limited. Equipped with diesel engine, 4×4 drive, and Mega Cab, it is going to cost at least $75,000.
