2019 Nissan Titan Diesel, Changes, XD, Specs

The 2019 Nissan Titan is about to come with some nice updates. It seems it is time for some tweaks to the current model, after three years of production. To remind you, the original version of this highly capable truck was active for full 12 years. Despite such extra-long production cycle, it remained competitive.

With the redesign that came three years ago, things became even better. The famous Patrol-based truck came with numerous changes, including completely new design, updated engines, new cabin and much more. After three years of production, it is time to see some changes. Considering that the original was present for 12 years, we don’t expect miracles from this update. Most likely, this refresh will include a new version of a diesel engine, and some minor tweaks in terms of standard equipment. On the other side, styling changes don’t look so likely.

2019 Nissan Titan design changes

As we’ve already mentioned, more important changes in terms of base design characteristics are not expected. The 2019 Nissan Titan will continue to ride on the same platform and keep same proportions as well. Speaking of the design language, we believe that it is still early for some modifications. However, some minor novelties like new color options and wheels design are quite possible. Rest of the truck will remain the same.

A real mid-cycle refresh will probably come somewhere in two or three years, when we expect to see various changes in terms of styling, such as new headlights, grille and much more. The interior design will also remain pretty much the same.

Consider this refresh as just the first update. The real one will come later. For this occasion, a priority is a new diesel engine, while the interior should remain the same. We are about to see a familiar dashboard layout, as well as overall cabin design. Still, some changes in terms of standard equipment are quite possible. The trim level organization will remain the same, but each version should receive few novelties.

There are basically four trim levels. Those are S, SV, SL and Platinum Reserve. Each of these models gradually gets more and more equipment. Finally, there is another, special version. You may consider it the fifth trim level as well. It is called Pro-4X and it is designed for the off-road drive. Compared to other versions, it comes with numerous modifications on chassis, such as suspension, brakes, tires etc. Additionally, it gets few unique styling details too.

The current version comes with two engines in the offer. The base and the more popular engine is a famous 5.6-liter V8. This engine has been in the offer for years in several Nissan models and it is famous for its amazing durability. With the latest tweaks, it is also highly efficient. It has a total output of 390 horsepower and 394 pound-feet of torque. When it comes to transmission, this engine comes in pair with a 7-speed automatic gearbox.

On the other side, there is a 5.0-liter diesel engine from Cummins. With the newest update, it will get additional 45 pound-feet of torque. So, total numbers will go around 310 horses and 600 pound-feet of torque. This boost will provide even better results in terms of towing. Transmission for this engine is a familiar 6-speed automatic.
