It seems like the company is bringing back the old nameplate after more than 30 years, as 2019 Jeep Scrambler. We are all eagerly waiting to see the new Wrangler-based truck and latest reports suggest that the new model will use a familiar name from the 80’s. There were talks about the name for some time. Many suggested Gladiator name, but our reliable source claims the new truck will use this one.
The new model is in the late stage of development and should hit the market pretty soon. According to latest reports, it will come with the same name that was used last time we saw a pickup truck from Jeep. Of course, this model will stick pretty close to the new Wrangler, not just in terms of mechanics, but in styling and interior design as well. Most likely, we will see it by the end of the year.
2019 Jeep Scrambler design
Although a brand-new model from this manufacturer, the 2019 Jeep Scrambler will come with design characteristics that are all pretty much known at this moment. The new truck will be heavily based on the legendary Wrangler. In terms of mechanics, we don’t expect some crucial modifications. The new model will ride on the same platform, but probably with a stretched wheelbase.
All reliable sources suggest a double cab design, which demands both room for the cabin and bed. Another mechanical medication that could come is a new rear suspension, which would be designed to carry more weight, which eventually means slightly less comfort. In terms of styling, 2019 Jeep Scrambler will have a lot in common with the iconic SUV.
2019 Jeep Scrambler styling and interior design
The 2019 Jeep Scrambler will stick to the new Wrangler. As you probably know, the new generation of the famous SUV came just recently, with a new styling which continues the evolution of this legendary model. There are several styling details but the core remains the same. Speaking of new truck, we will probably see a completely identical front end. The new model will most likely come in a double-cab design, but we won’t exclude other variants.
On the insider, we expect 2019 Jeep Scrambler to mimic the new Wrangler. Most likely, dashboard will be completely identical, as well as the rest of the cabin. Only some minor tweaks are possible. Still, we will probably see a little bit different specs when it comes to standard equipment.
2019 Jeep Scrambler engines
Another aspect where 2019 Jeep Scrambler will be pretty much the same as Wrangler is powertrain. The new truck will come with a familiar list of engines.
Base models will use a familiar 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with around 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.
Speaking of options, there is a new 2.0-liter turbo inline-four unit which uses a little help from the electric motor. The result is amazing efficiency. Total output goes around 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Both engines use the same 8-speed automatic transmission.
Finally, there are reports about diesel engine. It should be the same unit that we can find under the hood of Grand Cherokee. It is a 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine from Italy, which delivers around 260 horsepower. Finally, there are reports about plug-in hybrid version, but this model won’t come so soon. We expect it in about two years.
