French carmaker is trying to make larger impact into truck market. Because of that, they made a new concept which is about to be reincarnated in pickup. Vehicle should go out very soon under the name 2017 Renault Alaskan. This platform was presented recently, but be sure that market appearance could be early in 2016. This truck is a product of cooperation of French company with certified Japanese truck-maker Nissan. However, German Daimler came into mix, and since all names are established as reliable and world-class, the Renault Alaskan should be top model.
2017 Renault Alaskan concept
From the cooperation with Nissan, Renault is going to launch pickup truck. Since Japanese producer is well-known for their trucks, it was obvious that many concept solutions will be borrowed. So, Navara was used as a Matrix for 2017 Renault Alaskan. This is famous pickup, which is going to be used for new Mercedes-Benz truck, which is about to be released in 2019. From early information, new Alaskan vehicle will get modern 21-inch wheels. Also, attractive exterior is boosted with LED lamps, satin paintjob and polished metal details. Also, this vehicle could borrow some details from other cars in Renault family, or from Nissan Navara. We are sure that interior is going to be filled with latest features. Infotainment and comfort shouldn’t be questionable since French carmaker is well known of this.
2017 Renault Alaskan powertrains
There is plenty of time before 2017 Renault Alaskan arrives into dealerships. Its premiere could happen early in 2016, but summer seems like closer variant. By then, engineers can tune this truck and fix all bugs seen in development. That’s why drivetrain options are not unveiled yet. However, some information have shown up recently, telling about few possibilities, and all engines should be diesel-powered. According to rumors, 2017 Alaskan truck will get the power from twin turbo-diesel unit.
Total 163 hp is produced from 2.3-l unit. Other predicted options are 1.6-l TDI and 2.3-l dCi units. Outputs of these powertrains are unknown. There are no info about gasoline engines, and so far we can assume that new 2017 Renault Alaskan is going to be offered only as diesel.
