Honda Ridgeline will get big refresh in 2017. We can claim that since spy shots of the vehicle appeared, and these can confirm these words. However, truck we have seen is in development mode and many changes are to be made, but we are convinced release date is coming fast. On the other side, pickup market is very active and attractive, and company’s only representative will be 2017 Honda Ridgeline. From spy shots we can see many changes are to be made on the pickup, and by that, carmaker did what drivers asked of it. Truckers complained about not being real pickup, and now Ridgeline, in second generation, is more aggressive.

2017 Honda Ridgeline redesign

The 2017 Honda Ridgeline is a light-duty truck. Platform used for its building is borrowed from Pilot. That won’t make new Ridgeline tougher, as some full-size pickups, but towing and off-roading will be still possible. For some less demanding users, this truck will be good choice since it is not going to lack comfort and infotainment. But, 2017 Ridgeline has some unique features, such as two-way tailgate. There is also lockable truck with cooler in the bed. Used platform also offers superseded body-on-frame concept, which is modified for trucks. There are also many other negative critics of the Ridgeline, but Honda is giving another chance to its only pickup.

With platform shared with new Pilot sport utility vehicle, there won’t be end of common stuff between two models. Under the hood, same powertrain is prepared, but modified to tow more. It is 3.5-l V6 unit. For new Pilot, it can produce 250 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque, while predictions for truck is closer to 300 hp. Same rear-wheel drive system is available, but 6-speed gearbox mated to V6 can send power to all wheels also. Mileage couldn’t be compared, but we are sure that drivetrain can perform well off the road.
