All-new, redesigned Hilux truck is just around the corner, and all fans can’t wait to see what it brings. However, we had some peaks at rumors and leaked information to make waiting easier and provide all enthusiasts with what we know. Most changes come inside the cabin. Part of the eight generations, 2016 Toyota Hilux uses a lot of chrome for details, LED technology for lights and lightweight materials for building. Mileage is improved, but not over performance, which is highlight of the Hilux, and the reason why many people decide to buy this truck.
2016 Toyota Hilux engine
There will be option for all truck lovers, even these that looks at every part. Two engines are prepared in both diesel and petrol variants. Base models are equipped with 2.8-l turbodiesel unit. This drivetrain delivers 174 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque. Less power comes from 2.4-l turbodiesel, other diesel engine made for 2016 Toyota Hilux. This unit offers 160 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Naturally aspired gasoline powerplants are 2.7-l four-cylinder and 4.0-l V6. First one can develop 164 hp, while the most power in new Hilux could be found in model with 4.0-l engine. The last one mentioned can bring 278 horses. A 6-speed automatic gearbox is available, but manual transmission is more interesting. This is the first gearbox for trucks from Toyota’s i-MT with rev matching technology.
2016 Toyota Hilux redesign
Highlight of the 2016 Toyota Hilux styling is high-riding position. Its long wheelbase and short overhangs promise elegant appearance and similar performance as the truck always had. It is still not clear which trim levels will be offered. We are sure there will be many of them, since four engine options are prepared. Expect many cab configurations and bed lengths.
Inside, cabin is better than before. All existing systems are refreshed and updated. There are new HVAC controls and CD/DVD system. Truck is very comfortable since there is plenty of room inside. Also ride could be very pleasant with great infotainment system. New Hilux should offer the best of technology, since competition, Nissan Navara, Chevy Colorado and Gmc Canyon improved their trucks lately.
