New 2016 Ram 1500 should make immediate impact on the pickup market. For new model, designers prepared a lot of options, including three cab configurations and many trim levels. There are also various engine options available for this model. A 3.6-l V6 is under the hood of the Ram 1500 by default. For maximum performance, there is 5.7-l V8 HEMI powertrain, that can deliver 395 horsepower and 407 pound-feet of torque. These models have their transmission system. The last, but not the least is 2016 Ram 1500 Diesel option. Trucks with this unit are the most economical pickups in this lineup.

Turbo-diesel’s advantage over other trucks is its fuel economy, First of all, this 3.0-liter V6 can deliver around 240 horsepower, and generates 420 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to an eight speed automatic transmission, and it is also a part of this incredible numbers mentioned before. The 2016 Ram 1500 Diesel can sprint to 60 mph in just 8 seconds, which is acceptable for its class. Maximum towing capacity is set at 9,200 lbs. All these performance boosts have its costs, since Ram 1500 with diesel powerplant cost at least $3,000 more than other trucks. Also, this pickup can be purchased as 4×2 or all-wheel drive model.

Fuel economy is main advantage of trucks with diesel powerplant. The 2016 Ram 1500 Diesel gives best ratio, with 21 mpg running in the city and 29 miles on the highway with just one gallon. The HFE version is the most efficient, with regular cab configuration, short bed and 4×2. Comparing to other pickups in lineup, it is per mile better than 3.6-l V6, but turbodiesel offers better performance.

Other diesel variants can do 20 mpg and 28 mpg at least. Models with 4-wheel drive can run 19/27 mpg in city or highway. Another advantage is 8-speed gearbox, that is better than other, 6-speed transmission for 2 mpg. So, for example, 5.7-l V8 model can go just 15/22 mpg with 8-speed transmission and 2 miles less with 6-shift option.
